GHMC Election Campaign Goes to Skies to Woo Voters

Hyderabad: With Sankranti around the corner the skyline is dotted with riot of colorful kites. The festive fervor bug has not just bitten public but political parties as well this time.With the GHMC elections around the corner, political parties are using kites as a promotional tools to soar high in the coming elections.
The political parties have come out with kites of their leaders. The TRS party has come up with its leader CM K Chandrashekar Rao’s kite carrying a slogan 'Jai Telangana' while Modi is BJP's face with a slogan 'acche din agaye'. Telugu Desam party is also not left behind with N. Chandrababu Naidu as its campaigner.
As Majlis party's election symbol itself is a kite and it is also gearing up high having Owais brothers' kites carrying a line of 'MIM ke 7 chamakte sitare'.
Though the political parties have taken the fight to skies to woo voters but only results would say which party will soar high.
Apart from political kites the patang bazaar at Gulzar Houz at old city is bustling giving the children a wide range to choose from. Their popular comic characters - Chota Bheem, Spiderman, Doraemon are at display or they can also have all the comic characters in one kite to their delight. If comic characters were to entice children, city youngsters too are not left behind. Kites posing Baahubali warrior brother and Salman Khan's Bajrangi Bhaijaan are big hits. One can also go for 'Sare Jahan se Accha' kite as a patriotic symbol which has Taj Mahal in the middle carrying pictures of Charminar, India Gate and Red Fort around it.
As the people are engulfed in Sankranti celebrations city police has come forward with prohibitory orders with restriction on flying kites on thoroughfares and places near temples to maintain peace. M Mahender Reddy Hyderabad police commissioner said that orders would be in effect from 6 am on January 14 till 6 am on January 16.
"We appeal to the parents to advise their children not to fly kites from terraces with no parapet walls. They should also advise their children not to run on the streets or collect kites from electric poles," the commissioner said. The rule violators would be prosecuted, the release added.
