Hyderabad: An impotent man was stopped when he was trying to marry for the second time even after being divorced by his first wife for his impotence.

28-year-old Syed Asadullah Hussaini had been married and divorced earlier. His first wife divorced him on the grounds that he was impotent. However he kept this a secret and was all set to marry once again; little did he know he would end up in jail instead of the ‘mandap’.

According to police reports, a complaint was registered against the groom by his would be father-in-law Anwaruddin Khan on Tuesday on charges of cheating them.

The bride’s family had already spent a lot of money on gifts and dowry towards the groom and his family.

Asadullah had got engaged for the second time on November 15 to the youngest daughter of Anwaruddin and was scheduled to marry on January 5, 2016. Between this courtship period, the bride’s father alleges they paid 2.5 lakh as dowry. Other than that on third January, furniture worth 1.90 lakh and electronic goods worth Rs. 51500 and other articles worth Rs. 1.5 lakh were sent to his house. A ceremony was held on January 4 for which 80000 rupees were spent.  All arrangements for the wedding that was to be held at a function hall in Asif Nagar were completed and it costed them another couple of lakhs, Asadullah said.

However, on January 4, on the wedding eve, a woman named Salma Begum reached the house of the would be bride claiming that she was the former wife of Asadullah Husaini. She also showed the photographs of her marriage and the documents of divorce as proof. In addition to it she also brought the medical certificate of her former husband, Asadullah Husaini that declared him impotent.

The bride’s family was left stunned following this and immediately called off the wedding. Police registered a case of cheating under 420 IPC and Dowry Prohibition Act and started investigations.
