Former Union Minister P Sivasankar Passes Away, YS Jagan Condoles Death

Former Union Law Minister and senior politician P Sivasankar passed away on Monday. He was 86 and has been bed-ridden for quite sometime.

Sivasankar was born on August 10, 1929 in Mamidipalli village in Hyderabad district. He was a High Court judge before he took the political plunge. He was elected MP in 1979 and 1980 and was a Rajya Sabha in 1985. He was leader of the Congress Party in Rajya Sabha from 1988 till 1989. He also worked as HRD minister at the centre and as Governor of Sikkim and Kerala.

In 2004, he quit Congress Party alleging that the party leaders were selling tickets. In 2008, he joined Chiranjeevi's Praja Rajyam Party. In 2011, the Praja Rajyam Party merged into the Congress.

YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed deep condolences at the demise of Sivasankar. He recalled Sivasankar's contribution to the nation.
