Foreigner’s Gandhigiri tames unruly autowallah!! - Sakshi Post

How to tame the unruly and unjustly demanding autowallahs, who squeeze and torment the gullible passengers?

Here’s Christine Fair’s way and we bet, it does not fail at all. Even the toughest autowallahs will crack if one uses Christine’s method.

Christine Fair, an assistant professor in Georgetown University, is doing research on South Asian languages and cultural changes. She has been a regular visitor to Hyderabad since 1997. Three days ago, she hailed an autorickshaw to go to Charminar. However, finding a fair-skinned Firang, the autowallahs demands shot up like the zooming prices. He refused to put the auto meter and demanded a hefty sum for plying us.

But, Christine heaved herself into the auto and began recording the conversation in her smart phone. She explained how the autowallah was trying to take her for a ride. She even hummed a couple of Hindi film songs and this was enough for the auto driver to realize that discretion was the better part of valour. He backed down, put the meter and took her to Charminar, all the while donning a stunned silence.”

Christine even taunts him “Smile Please” after he backed down.

The video clip, which demonstrates the power of smart phone and the power of knowing the lingo, has now gone viral on the social media. More than these things, it is Christine’s Gandhigiri that needs to be appreciated.
