Female Techie Finds Her Private Data Posted on Escort Services Website

Techie wife shocked by strangers’ calls but stunned by police revelations!
Pune: A female software engineer who lodged a complaint with the Hinjewadi police station in Pune, about her receiving obnoxious calls from strangers, was later shocked on being told by the police that the person who posted her mobile number and other personal details on an escort service website was none other than her own husband.
Following her complaint the police registered a case under the provisions of Information Technology (IT), Act, 2000 and also invoked sections of cheating under the Indian Penal Code against the suspects.
The police obtained the details of the website and placed a request for a trace of the IP from which the details were posted on to the site. The police was puzzled to find that the IP that they were following in the course of the investigation happened to be the very same IP from the complainant’s residence on Sus Road in Pune.
Upon further investigation the police discovered that it was the techie’s husband who had uploaded his wife’s cell phone number on to the escort services website from his tablet.
Upon interrogation the techie’s husband, himself a software professional, had told the police that he had uploaded his wife’s cell phone number and other details on the escort service’s website to get back at her for constantly picking fights with him and frustrating him.
The 35-year-old techie from Bilaspur of Chhattisgarh, who works in a company based in Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park, has since been arrested.
