RGV’s Open Letter To Censor Board: Slams CBFC For Stalling Lakshmi’s NTR Release

Ram Gopal Varma hits back on delay of Lakshmi’s NTR release - Sakshi Post

Director Ram Gopal Varma's 'Lakshmi's NTR' has been in the limelight since its inception. Having attracted the audience with the trailer release, the release of the movie is eagerly awaited. One of the highly-anticipated Telugu movies of 2019, Lakshmi's NTR release was slated in March or May, as per the director's hints.

However, with the film's release facing hindrance, Ram Gopal Varma is all set to take legal steps against CBFC for stalling the release of his movie.

According to RGV's post on Twitter, the director is all set to file a case on the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) for illegally stopping Lakshmi's NTR release.

The reason for the delay in the release, indicated by CBFC was in connection to the first phase of polls, scheduled to be held on April 11, 2019, as the movie attracts the provisions of model code of conduct for elections.

In an open letter to the Censor Board, Ram Gopal Varma said that the CBFC has no authority to postpone the processing of the movie on the grounds of model code of conduct before even watching it.

Asserting that the contents of Lakshmi’s NTR do not include any of the prohibited guidelines, RGV said that the Censor Board came to the conclusion without viewing the film. Further stating that the CBFC violated the fundamental right of Freedom of Expression under Article 19 of the Constitution of India, hence, he will approach the Court against the censor board for misusing their responsible position.
