Election Expenditure for Corporator Candidates Capped at Rs2 Lakh

Hyderabad: The candidates contesting for a corporator seat in GHMC elections are not allowed to spend more than Rs2.00 lakh.The State Election Commission (SEC) has set the expenditure limit on the candidates for the upcoming elections. The nomination deposit will be Rs5,000 for general and OBC candidates and Rs2,500 for SC and ST contestants. A decision to this effect was taken by the State Election Commissioner V. Nagireddy at a meeting held with the representatives of various political parties on Tuesday.

Nagireddy said the SEC is all prepared for conducting the election anytime before January 31 as directed by the High Court. Polling centers have been identified, wards reorganized and voter lists were published, he said adding that only reservation of wards is pending which can be done at anytime and the election process will begin immediately after that.
