DMK Disturbed Law And Order Over Rath Yatra: BJP

BJP state party president Tamilisai Soundarajan - Sakshi Post

Coimbatore: State BJP today accused parties such as the DMK of creating law and order problems in Tamil Nadu by protesting against the VHP-backed Ram Rajya Yatra.

Speaking to reporters here, state party president Tamilisai Soundarajan said the yatra, after covering four states, reached Tamil Nadu peacefully, but the opposition parties in the state hit the streets. She was referring to protests by DMK and various pro-Tamil and Muslim outfits yesterday when the yatra entered the state from Kerala.

The DMK had raised the issue in the state assembly protesting against the permission granted to the rally, but Chief Minister K Palaniswami defended it saying all religions have equal rights and accused the opposition of trying to give political colour.

Referring to the vandalising of social reformer and rationalist "Periyar" E V Ramasamy statue in Pudukottai yesterday, Soundararajan said DMK working president M K Stalin without thinking or making an inquiry had blamed the BJP for the act.

Pointing to the arrest of a CRPF jawan in connection with the incident, she said she wondered what Stalin would say now. She said the parties should stop blaming BJP for each and everything happening in the state. (PTI)
