Journalists Attacked On Robot 2.0 Sets, Director Shankar Apologies

Chennai: A controversy erupted on the sets of 'Robot 2.0' on Wednesday after two photo journalists were attacked by its crew members at the shoot location. They were assaulted by the crew for questioning the blocking of a road. Post the incident, director Shankar visited the Press Club of Chennai and tendered an apology.

"This incident happened without my knowledge, I feel very sorry for that, I will see that it won't happen again," he said.

The agitated journalists initially lodged a police complaint against the crew members; however they withdrew it after the film director expressed regret. The assaulted journalists are Raghunathan, working for an English daily and Barath, working for a Tamil daily.

The journalists said they were beaten up when they questioned the blocking of a key intersection in downtown Triplicane by several vehicles of the film crew.

"When we asked if it was proper to cause inconvenience to public by blocking roads especially during peak hour, two crew members used foul language against us and we were beaten up," Raghunathan said.

Touted to be made on humongous budget, '2.0', is a sequel to the earlier superhit 'Endiran' which featured Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai. The film, nearing completion, also has Bollywood star Akshay Kumar playing the baddie.
