Devotees Throng Temples on Vaikunta Ekadasi in Telugu States

Hyderabad: Hindu devotees thronged the temples from the early hours on Monday on the occasion of Vaikunta Ekadasi.City's Himayatnagar, Chikkadpally Venkateshwara Swamy temples, Jiaguda Ranganatha Swamy temple, Yadadri, Bhadrakali and other temples in Warangal, Vemulawada, Dharmapuri, Kaleshwaram and Kondagattu in Karimnagar district, Bhadrachalam in Khammam and Medak's Kodandaramalayam witnessed huge crowds of devotees including politicians and other celebrities. Special pujas were performed at the temples.
In Andhra Pradesh, Annavaram, Simhachalam and Dwaraka Tirumala in West Godavari, Ramateertham in Vizianagaram and Asaravalli and other Vaishnavaite temples in Srikakulam were abuzz with thousands of religious devotees. The state Election Commissioner Banwarlal was among those who visited temples.
Tirumala Balaji temple received over a lakh devotees making the Darshan a long wait for over 24 hours. The Suprabhata Seva and Mangala Harati Sevas were cancelled due to heavy rush. The Atirudra Mahayagam being performed at Draksharamam continued for the second day.
