Death Penalty For Nirbhaya Convicts Incorrect, Says Lakshmi Manchu

Hyderabad: Giving a humanitarian point of view, film actress and producer Lakshmi Manchu deferred with the death sentence awarded to Nirbhaya perpetrators for brutally raping 23-year-old paramedical student in Delhi.

While the whole country was unanimous in its is in rejoice following the Supreme Court's decision to hang the offenders terming the case as "rarest of the rare", Manchu Lakshmi felt that the convicts should be given a chance to reform and understand the value of women.

"After all they too are humans, they should be given a chance to reform themselves," she said. Respect for women should be instilled from a young age to prevent such incidents, she suggested.

Following speculation that Lakshmi would soon take a plunge into politics, Manchu said she would continue her social service which she has been doing over the years. She clarified that she is not interested in politics.
