Muzaffarnagar: In yet another case of rising intolerance, a Dalit youth was beaten up by three men with sticks and forced to chant 'Jai Mata Di'. The 27-year-old victim, a resident of Muzaffarnagar town in Uttar Pradesh, was kicked, thrashed and forced to chant 'Jai Mata Di' on Sunday. A video clip of this went viral on social media.

The ostensible reason behind the assault was that the victim had allegedly insulted Hindu gods. In the video, the victim can be seen being thrashed, kicked by the three men as his black helmet is lying on the ground. One of the accused asks the fourth person to videotape the incident to make it viral. "We don't criticise your Ambedkar, do we? Why did you criticise ours?," he questioned. The fourth accused has filmed the video in his cellphone.

Based on a complaint from the victim's family, an FIR has been registered under IPC Senctions 307, 295A including Sections of the SC/ST Act and IT Act by the Purkazi police. The police formed teams to nab the accused.
