CBI Arrests P Chidambaram From His Residence

New Delhi: Dramatic scenes were witnessed on Wednesday night as the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) team scaled the wall of former Finance Minister P. Chidambaram's house in Jor Bagh, minutes after he arrived from the Congress headquarters after addressing a press conference. He was then arrested at 9 45 pm and was escorted out of his house by the CBI. A team of Enforcement Directorate (ED) also was present during the arrest the senior Congress leader who was at his house along with a battery of lawyers, including Kapil Sibal and Abhishek Manu Singhvi.

He will be produced in Rose Avenue Court on Thursday. The CBI Will seek his remand to confront him with evidence.

Earlier, Chidamabaram, who surfaced at the Congress headquarters after remaining "missing" for 27 hours, claimed that he will walk with his head held high and wait for the Supreme Court's decision on his plea on Friday.

Karthi P Chidambaram had sent out a tweet giving thanks to all who he felt was of support to his father.

Karthi Chidambaram had also spoken to the media about the series of events that took place. He said, “ Nobody has in history has gone through a raid 4 times.There is no Charge Sheet hence there is no case. This is a made up case to divert attention from the real issue, and being done for Media and TV.” He also commented on his father being apprehended by Probe agencies saying that this is a totally politically motivated witchhunt.

The Enfrocement Directorate had also made a statement which said, “We can arrest accused without a chargesheet. We are arresting him because we have evidences.”
