The Congress Party has announced its candidates for the upcoming local body MLC elections. The Congress, which is determined to give a tough fight to the TRS in the MLC polls, has decided field former MPs.

The names of A Chandrasekhar for Ranga Reddy district. Mahbubnagar ZP chairperson Damodar Reddy for Mahbubnagar local body constituency, Former ZP chairman of Nizamabad Venkata Ramana Reddy for Nizamabad. Maheshwar Reddy from Adilabad and Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy from Nalgonda have been forwarded by the TPCC leadership to the high command. It appears likely that the high command will give its consent for all the names and they could be given B Forms on Tuesday.
In all, elections are being held for 12 local body constituencies and the Congress will contest from eight. In Khammam, the party has decided to back the CPI candidate.
Speaking to the media, Nalgonda's candidate Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy exuded the confidence that his party has the required numbers to win the MLC polls in Nalgonda. He said the Left parties were supporting the Congress candidate and in the event of TDP and BJP not contesting, they too could support the Congress.
