City Police Bust Online Sex Racket That Paid Rs.50k A Week To Its Escorts

Hyderabad: An online sex racket that hired escorts on a weekly contract for Rs.50,000 was busted by Rachakonda SOT police on Tuesday. The police nabbed four people who were running the racket and also rescued five victims.

The arrested persons are Dasari Prabhakar, Nagesh Varma, Ravi Varma and Prachi Sharma. The rescued women are from UP and Haryana.

While the prostitution ring operated through a free classifieds website www.locanto.in the services of the escorts themselves were procured through a lucrative limited period engagement. The girls were hired only for a five-day period for which they were offered Rs.50,000 flat.

The girls who completed this cycle would then share the details of this arrangement they had with kingpin Ranjeet with their friends. Interested girls who wanted to make a quick buck without their short period of absence being noticed, would contact Ranjeet and send him their pictures on Whatsapp.

Ranjeet would call up the girls that he shortlisted and make travel arrangements for them in flights and put them up in posh hotels. He would then upload their pictures to the website and solicit clients for them through his accomplice Prabhakar’s number.

The customers were reportedly charged a hefty sum of Rs.60,000 from customers depending on the duration.
The SOT planned a decoy operation to penetrate the ring and nab the gang by sending one of their constables to strike a deal with Prabhakar.

The girl was sent to spot in Ramanthapur, after which they closed in on the operatives.
Ranjeet is still at large but four other operatives including a woman were arrested and the victims sent to a rescue home.
