BJP’s Amit Malviya Leaks Karnataka Polls Date Before EC

The election commission is seeing red over the leak of the Karnataka election dates before its official announcement. The goof-up was done by none other than the BJP IT cell's Chief Amit Malviya who tweeted about it even before the EC could announce it.
Even though he deleted the tweet, it drew widespread criticism from all quarters and also from the chief election commissioner OP Rawat. The poll panel is expected to probe into the matter of an early leak before the election schedule was announced.

“Certain things may have leaked for which the election commission will take strictest possible action,” Rawat said to media queries on how did the poll dates get out.

The sanctity of #KarnatakaElections2018 as well as the authority of the Election Commission are both undermined today with a BJP functionary & a couple of channels announcing poll dates before the EC did. This is unprecedented & seriously undermines voters’ trust in the EC of India’s impartiality. Interestingly,Congress's social media in-charge of KarnatakaSrivatsa too tweeted around the same time as Malviya as seen in this deleted tweet, but nobody paid heed!
