B.Com Student Stabs Girlfriend To Death For Spurning Love

Mangalore: In a gruesome incident, a jilted lover stabbed his girlfriend to death. Later, he attempted to commit suicide by stabbing himself. The incident occurred at Nehru Memorial college in Sullia District headquarters, about 86 kms away from Mangalore city on Tuesday.

According to the police, 21-year-old B.Com student, Karthik, had been pestering B.Sc student Akshatha of the same college and stalking her on the pretext of love.

The 21-year-old girl had spurned Karthik's advances on several occasions. On Tuesday, Karthik waylaid Akshatha when she was returning home from college and attacked her with a knife. Due to severe stab injuries, she collapsed and died within minutes. Karthik too tried to kill himself and stabbed himself in his stomach. Locals stopped him and rushed both of them to a nearby hospital. While the Akshatha was declared brought dead, Karthik was said to be out of danger. The police registered a case against the accused and are investigating the incident.
