Bangalore Stands Up For Cauvery: Water Campaign At Freedom Park On October 14

Members of different organisations protest at the cauvery basin last year in September  - Sakshi Post

With Sadguru's #rallyforrivers campaign to save Rivers of India gaining momentum, people of Karnataka too are not far behind. They are planning to create awareness on water conservation.

A whatsapp message doing the rounds calls on citizens to save Rivers Cauvery. Here's how it goes...

The River Cauvery is the life and water line of Bangalore. The river Cauvery has been under much pressure with deforestation, land conversion and rampant tourism.

This has resulted in 40% less water flow in the Cauvery in the last 50 years.

In addition, Karnataka dumps 65% of its sewage into its rivers and approximately 54,000 trees were cut in Cauvery’s catchment area Kodagu in 2015.

Cauvery needs Bangalore to show up, stand up and speak up for her.

The water campaign will be held at Freedom Park on October 14

Without your support the already shrinking river is in real danger with more deforestation, pollution and concrete encroachment in her habitat. KRS dam had been recording never before dead storage levels in consecutive years. *DO NOT LET CAUVERY BECOME A SARASWATHI*

*There is a Bangalore for Cauvery-wake up for water! gathering at Freedom Park on 14th October between 10.30 am and 12.00 noon.*

*When you need Cauvery water, she is there. Now Cauvery needs you. Show up, Stand up and Speak up for her.*
