Hyderabad: The Central Crime Station police have arrested Anantapur TDP MLC G. Deepak Reddy and two others in connection with a high profile land documents forgery case and also for his 2012 by-election affidavit where he had declared assets worth Rs6,455 crore.

Deepak Reddy is the son-in-law of Telugu Desam MP and businessman JC Diwakar Reddy. He was elected as the member of Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council in March this year.

A forgery case was registered against him, his advocate Sailesh Saxena, a realtor and another person alleging encroachment of land in the posh Banjara Hills Road No. 2 and other areas in Hyderabad with the help of forged documents.

Confirming the arrest, CCS DCP Avinash Mohanty said, "An advocate Sailesh Saxena in connivance with the Telugu Desam Party MLC created forged documents of government lands located in Banjara Hills, Asif Nagar, Abids and few others places in the city and grabbed them. Three cases were registered at CCS against Deepak Reddy, Sailesh and another realtor Srinivas."

Their modus operandi is to create a fictitious person and enter into litigation with the original owners of the land only to claim the ownership. In a case filed against Reddy at Langar Houz police station, the duo created a fake identity in the name of Iqbal Islam Khan and a case was filed in his name in the High Court against Mustafa Society. When the police investigated, it was found that Iqbal Khan did not exist at all. Reddy claimed that he purchased the land from this fictitious Khan. Several others affected by Reddy and his henchmen also came forward to file cases against them.

The arrests came as part of an ongong investigation in a case registered in 2016 based on the complaint given by the Tehsildar of Shaikpet.

Meanwhile, the arrest of Deepak Reddy has created a sensation in the political circles as he is known for his political connections and relations across both the Telugu states.
