AP Kapu Corporation MD Amarendra Kumar Fired On Corruption Charges 

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh State Kapu Welfare Department & Corporation Ltd MD, Dr. R. Amarendra Kumar, has been removed from the post on serious charges of corruption. The government notified his removal and repatriated the official to his parent Animal Husbandry department.

Amarendra was brought on deputation to the much-coveted post after the establishment of the Kapu Corporation amid mounting demand for inclusion of Kapus in BC list by Mudragada Padmanabham in January 2016.

The Corporation was set up with the sole purpose of appeasing Kapus with various monetary benefits and to dilute the demand for BC status. The government allocated funds for the Kapu Corporation to give loans to budding entrepreneurs and provide coaching to youth for competitive exams.

The Kapu Welfare and Development Corporation has been providing loans to eligible beneficiaries from the Kapu community for setting up self-employment units. Chalamalasetti Ramunujaiah had been appointed its chairman and Amarendra Kumar was entrusted with the official executive responsibilities as its Managing Director.

The Corporation has been extending loans to people from Kapu, Balija, Vantari and Telaga communities up to a maximum of Rs. 2 lakhs for setting up small industries in urban areas and for agri-based industries in rural areas.

In nearly two years after the formation of the Kapu Corporation, Amarendra Kumar is alleged to have amassed huge wealth fudging the funds intended for loans and coaching programs.

The Corporation introduced Chandranna Videsi Deevena and Chandranna Vidyonnati to for the benefit of Kapu students. However, crores of rupees were reported embezzled in the name of these schemes without actually helping many eligible candidates.

In last April, Chairman Ch. Ramanujaiah wrote to Amarendra Kumar seeking removal of an agenda item added to the 8th and 9th board meetings regarding the sanction of Rs. 31 lakhs towards medical reimbursement. This was reportedly done by the MD without the prior knowledge of the Chairman.

The state government has initiated a probe into the corruption charges against Amarendra Kumar.
