Vizag: Teenager Dies As Ferris Wheel Cabin Crashes

Visakhapatnam: A 16-year-old succumbed to death after a cabin car of a Ferris wheel came crashing down at a local festival in Visakha Agency area.

The incident took place in Paderu in the early hours of Tuesday. As per the details, huge number of devotees visited the temple on the second day of Goddess Modakondamma festival on Monday. With the recreation zone set up at the festival, the devotees spent the whole night in the area.

According to the Paderu police, the accident occurred at around 2 am on Tuesday when the cabin car fell off from the Ferris wheel after its link broke off from the wheel. Three children, including two girls and a boy were seated inside the cabin at the time of the incident. The cabin car fell from a height of 15 feet, killing a girl on the spot.

The deceased was identified as Bhavani from Hukumpet mandal. The injured were rushed to Paderu Community Health Centre (CHC) and later shifted to King George Hospital (KGH) in Vizag. The police have begun the investigation into the case.
