New Delhi : A tropical low in the Bay of Bengal is being considered as a cyclonic threat to Southeastern India.

Latest satellite images and surface observations foresee a depression, which has formed over the southeast Bay of Bengal and lay centered at 0530 hrs IST of Thursday about 850 km east-southeast of Trincomalee (Sri Lanka), 1170 km southeast of Chennai (Tamil Nadu) and 1350 km south-southeast of Machilipatnam (Andhra Pradesh).

This is to intensify further into a deep depression in the coming 12 hours and into a Cyclonic Storm during the subsequent 24 hours. It is heading towards the northwest direction that is towards Andhra Pradesh and the neighboring north Tamil Nadu coast during the next 72 hours.

Increasing wind around the system might lead to churning up of seas across the southern Bay of Bengal. Fisherman in Southeastern India should be extra cautious later this week and the weekend as water becomes dangerously choppy.
