Vigilance Officials Net Close To Rs 100 Crores From Offenders 

Rajahmundry: As part of a state wide program to collect fines for the year 2018-19, the Vigilance and Enforcement department officials have conducted simultaneous raids in several places across Rajahmundry,Tuni, Dowleswaram and Rajanagaram and other places in the East Godavari district.

As part of the drive, the Vigilance and Enforcement authorities raided many places which were conducting illegal activities including sand mining, illegal storing and sale of gutka packets, adulteration of tea powder and practicing medicine without valid certificates. Criminal cases have been booked under relevant sections and fines of more than Rs 97.37 crores were collected.

Seven hospitals located in Rajahmundry, Dowleswaram and Rajanagaram were raided and criminal cases were booked against six doctors for practising without valid certificates.

They also inspected 67 quarries where illegal mining of sand was being conducted and a sum of Rs Seven Crore was due as revenue to the state government.

They also booked cases of violations against Anganwadi centres, film theatres , shops, hotels and fair price shops over adulterated tea powder, energy drinks and other dairy products.

Speaking to journalists at a press meet, the Vigilance & Enforcement SP Gangadhara Rao Reddy said that they had identified various enterprises that owed Rs 232 Crore to the state government in the form of fines for the current fiscal year and also served notices to various departments to collect Rs 175 Crore.
