Maoists’ Open Letter On Kidari, Soma Killings

Visahkapatnam: Kidari Sarveswara Rao MLA, party whip of the ruling TDP and former MLA Siveri Soma were killed mercilessly by Maoists on 23 September in Livitiputtu near Dumbriguda in Visakhapatnam. Maoists have now released an open letter in connection with the killings.

In the letter it is mentioned that Kidari had cheated the local tribals for his selfish needs. Siveri Soma also has done many mistakes in the past for which she was murdered, it said. In a letter issued to all the leading media outlets, Maoists alleged that Kidari and Siveri had been working against tribal interests. Both of them are addressed as opponents of tribals and traitors by the Maoists.

The letter states that the Maoist group had warned Kidari many times in the past and asked him not to be a sycophant of the ruling TDP. It added that he ignored their warnings and helped the government in the mining of Bauxite. Their fate was then decided in the Maoists people's court, it said.

It further read that Kidari had sold himself for crores of rupees and had admitted this the extremists' peoples court and he was, therefore, punished. Referring to the policemen present there, the letter added that the Maoists decided to spare them though they could have harmed them and wondered whether policemen would have done the same.

The open letter by Maoists also mentions Paderu MLA Giddi Eswari, issuing a warning mentioning the sum of Rs. 20 crores she accepted from the ruling party. It may be recalled that Giddi Eswari won on a YSRCP ticket and crossed over to the ruling TDP. The letter quotes Kidari as having referred to her role.The Maoists have demanded that Eswari distribute the money she was 'bought over' with among tribals. Further, it asks her not to covet a ministership. She also asked to apologize to them. If their demands are not met she also will meet the same situation as Kidari and Siveri, it warns.
