All Set For Ganesh Festival With 40000 Pandals, 20000 Cops, 12000 CCTV Surveillance In City

Hyderabad: The capital city of Telangana is decked for the 9-day colorful festival of Ganesh Chatuthi to be celebrated from Monday (September 5-14). The City of Pearls is going to be reverberated with the ceaseless chanting of the name of Lord Ganesh for 9 days with full josh.

The city police have made foolproof security arrangements in order to avoid any untoward incidents and for the smooth conduct of the festivities. Speaking to the media, Hyderabad City Commissioner of Police Mahendar Reddy said nearly 40,000 Ganesh Pandals got the permission for the celebrations and a meeting with all the Ganesh Utsav Committees in the city was also held and they were briefed about the directions of height of idols and security measures during the festivities. He said as many as 20,000 police personnel will be in the action to over-see the hectic celebrations for ten days.

The CP said nearly 12,000 CCTV cameras have been installed in busy areas covering the whole city and the monitoring will be done moment by moment from the Central Command Control Room. He directed the people to go for the idols with the height of below 15 feet to move forward easily during the processions due to the Metro Rail works.

The top cop also advised the devotees to cooperate with the police in order to let the festival go smoothly especially on the culminating Nimajjan Day. He said elaborate arrangements will be made at Tunk Bund for the immersion of the idols in the Hussain Sagar lake and so for the visitors. The idols that come late in the evening for the immersion at the lake will be sent to Necklace Road, he said.

Gigantic Khairatabad Ganesh Ready To Be Enshrined

Everything is ready for the enshrinement of the famous towering Khairatabad Ganesh idol scaling 58 feet this year named as ‘Sri Shakti Peetha Shivanagendra Maha Ganapati’ at the heart of the city Khairatabad. The set up of Pandal is also completed for the gigantic idol which took two and a half month for the making involving 130 artisans. On the altar, the massive idol of Lord Ganesh is flanked by small idols of Lord Venkateshwara and Lord Krishna. Also the famous Laddu Maha Prasadam for the idol is offered by Suruchi Sweets weighing 500 kg.

Devotees will be allowed for the Darshan after Governor ESL Narasimhan offers the pujas to the idol as a prelude on Monday, said the Khairatabad Ganesh Utsava Committee.
