AIADMK Tiruvannamalai Leader Murdered In Broad Daylight

Chennai: An AIADMK leader was murdered by his own followers in Tiruvannamalai in broad daylight on Sunday. A dispute regarding sharing of funds collected by them is said to be the reason behind the murder.

Kanagaraj was the party's ex-president of the district and was involved in several extortion cases, according to police. He collected crores of rupees from local businessmen along with his follower Babu. However, Babu developed enmity with him as he was not given his share in the collected money of around Rs3 crore.

Babu and three of his hired killers waylaid Kanagaraj when he was going to badminton court on his scooter in town and stabbed him with knives killing him on the spot.

On hearing the news, AIADMK general secretary Sasikala expressed shock and condolences to the family of the deceased. Police confirmed that it was purely a personal enmity and no politics involved in the murder.
