Ahead Of Polls, BJP Wins All 3 Graduate MLC Seats In UP 

Ahead of the first round of polling in Uttar Pradesh, the BJP, which is making a strong bid to wrest power in the largest state of the country, got a shot in the arm as it won all the three MLC seats in UP. It won the graduate constituency seats from Kanpur, Gorakhpur and Bareilly.

Elections were also held for two teachers' constituencies. Both were bagged by independents.

On Saturday, polling was held in 73 constituencies in 15 districts. Polling in Uttar Pradesh will be conducted in seven phases – February 11, 15, 19, 23, 27, March 4 and 8. The counting of votes will take place on March 11.
