Actor-Cricketer Who Made It To Guinness Book Commits Suicide After Loss In Business

Mumbai: Kannada actor Dhruv Sharma passed away in the early hours of Tuesday due to multiple organ failure followed by cardiac arrest here at the Columbia Asia Hospital. He was 35. The actor is survived by his wife and two children.

Dhruv Sharma was rushed to hospital on Saturday when he collapsed in his house in the city. Some reports in the media claimed that he made a suicide attempt after he suffered losses in business. Doctors declared him dead at around 3am.

It is suspected that Dhruv had allegedly consumed poison over losses that he suffered in his business.

According to Suvarna News , Dhruv was allegedly in depression over the losses and he had attempted to commit suicide on July 29. A complaint on this regard has been reportedly lodged by his father Suresh Sharma with Rajanukunte police.

The actor, who is impaired of speech and hearing disability, had represented Karnataka Bulldozers during all the six seasons of Celebrity Cricket League (CCL).

Dhruv Sharma made his debut with the movie — ‘Snehanjali’ through in which the actor secured a place in Guinness Book of World Records for being the first deaf-and-dumb actor having performed a lead role in a movie. He was praised in the film circles for playing the role with perfection — even lip syncing the dialogues and the songs.

Bollywood actors Aftab Shivdasani, Riteish Deshmukh and several others, who had played with Dhruv Sharma throughout the CCL, took to Twitter expressing grief over Dhruv's sudden death.

Dhruv Sharma had even captained Indian cricket team for the deaf-and-dumb, which had won the World Cup in 2005.
