8-Month-Old Drowns While Mother Was Busy On Facebook

San Francisco: A 21-year-old woman was arrested after her baby drowned while she was texting on Facebook. The woman identified as Cheyenne Summer Stuckey, left her eight-month-old daughter in the tub with the water running "for only a couple of minutes".

She told the officials that she became "distracted" by another child and a television playing loudly; however, the investigators discovered that Stuckey was messaging two people on Facebook for at least 18 minutes while the infant was left unattended on June 13. After realising that she had left her kid in the tub unsupervised, she rushed to check on the child and found the kid floating in the tub face-down and unresponsive.

She told the officials that she didn’t know how to resurrect the child and the baby was declared dead at a hospital. The autopsy report confirmed that the baby died from drowning. The woman has been charged with endangerment and injury to a child. Her three other children have been put up in foster care.
