7-Year-Old Girl Dies After Throat Slashed

Hyderabad: A seven-year-old girl was murdered by unidentified assailants who slit her throat in her house at Yellampet village near Medchal on Wednesday.

According to police, the victim Sai Laxmi Prasanna was found in a pool of blood in the bathroom with injuries.

The girl was alive when her aunt Venkata Lakshmi saw her and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, but the girl died while undergoing treatment, said Medchal inspector S. Rajasekhar Reddy.

Petbasheerabad ACP Ashok Kumar said that the girl was not sexually assaulted and it appears to be that a known person has committed murder, adding that a manhunt has been launched to nab the assailants

Lakshmi informed that she came there around 2.40pm to check if the girl was okay as her parents were away at work. Her elder sister Kavya Sri (10) was sleeping in an adjoining room and told police that she was not aware of the incident.

A case under section 302 (murder) of IPC has been registered and further investigation is on.

Victim's father G Krishnamurthy is a car driver while her mother Bhavani works at a local factory.
