3 Nabbed For Extorting Money From Endowment Department

Hyderabad: Three persons were arrested on Wednesday by Mahankali police station for extorting money from the endowment department in the guise of advertisements.

They are not only extorting huge amounts in the guise of ads but also demanded Rs 25,000 from a woman from Mahankali temple

Laxman Rao, Vishveshwar Rao and Kumar are running separate magazines exclusively on temples and religious issues and they were forcing the endowment department to release ads for their magazines. Police have filed a case against the accused.

"They are not only extorting huge amounts in the guise of ads but also demanded Rs 25,000 from a woman from Mahankali temple. As the woman refused to pay, they tried to blackmail the woman by issuing a pamphlet against her," said B. Ramesh, Station House Officer Mahankali.

Laxman (47) is a resident of Balanagar, runs a magazine called Alaya Darshini. Vishveshwar (48) a resident of Kavadiguda runs a magazine Praja Mitra, while Kumar (62) resident of Jeedimetla was the editor of Devalaya Charitra magazine.
