200 Additional ‘Amma Vodi’ Vehicles To Help Pregnant Women
Hyderabad: Telangana government would bring 200 additional ‘Amma Vodi' vehicles into service to help pregnant women reach hospitals in time.
Telangana health minister Dr C Laxma Reddy announced this on Friday in the assembly. The ambulances are meant to carry the pregnant women to hospital and then track their delivery status. He said that those who want to avail this facility can reach out to 102 toll free number which is a centralized 24x7 call centre.

The minister said that a proposal has been sent to the Telangana Public Service Commission for recruitment of gynecologists and pediatricians to take care of pregnant women as a priority wise.
The minister said that said that the maternal mortality rate in the state was 71 per 1 lakh deliveries while the national rate was 167.
