Vijayawada Police Chief Gautam Sawang Rejoins Duty

Vijayawada: City Police Commissioner Gautam Sawang rejoined duty on Wednesday, after a fortnight leave due to personal reasons.

He was scheduled to rejoin duty on Tuesday but was delayed as he was in Hyderabad to attend a review meeting called by Andhra Pradesh DGP JV Ramudu.
It may be recalled that the Commissioner applied for a leave in December 2015 but had to withdraw as the call money sex racket scam was at its peak. Several sections of the society linked his leave to the scam and said that he was forced to go on leave. Subsequently, he postponed his leave to February 2016.
Additional DGP (Operations) NV Surendra Babu was the acting police commissioner in his absence.
