Petition Filed Against Telangana Govt’s New Secretariat Proposal In High Court

Hyderabad: In response to the Telangana government's decision to demolish the existing State Secretariat, a petition was filed in the High Court on Monday. The matter has been posted to Friday when the Court will hear the arguments in this regard.

The TRS government has decided to shift the Secretariat to Erragadda as the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao repeatedly stated that the existing structures are not Vaastu-compliant. A decision has already been made to lay the foundation stone for the new buildings that will house the State Secretariat.

Against this backdrop, the petitioner approached the High Court requesting it to look into the issue. The petitioner pointed out that the State government had already filed an affidavit in the High Court in 2016 that it would not raze the existing structure and there was no plan to construct a new secretariat.

With TRS government once again bringing up the matter, the petitioner knocked on the doors of High Court on Monday.

Meanwhile, most of the buildings in the existing Secretariat were build little over 30 years ago when NT Rama Rao was the chief Minister in 1985, and spread across 25.5 acres. The TRS government wants to demolish both Secretariat and other old structures abutting it.
