TDP jolted at Rajampet

TDP received a setback, just days ahead of election, when MLA Madanmohan Reddy, from  Rajampet Lok Sabha constituency quit the party in protest against  giving primacy to those who came from Congress.

TDP has left the seat for its alliance partner BJP, which has fielded NTR's daughter Daggubati Purandeswari. She has recently joined the BJP from the Congress.

Purandeswari's nomination was an issue between both the TDP and the BJP. The BJP wanted to field her from Vizag or Vijayawada, but the TDP has opposed it. There have been reports that Chandrababu Naidu was not happy with the BJP giving ticket to NTR's daughter. Even actor Balakrishna has said that he would not campaign for his sister.
