Sanath Jayasuriya Death News Fake

Sanath Jayasuriya - Sakshi Post

Hyderabad: A buzz started doing the rounds on social media with reports claiming that Sri Lanka cricketer Sanath Jayasuriya has passed away. This created a steam on social media with many inquiring if the news is fake or real. Some even took to Twitter to clarify the veracity of the news.

Turns out that the news is FAKE and Sanath himself had clarified that the news was hoax and asked people not to forward it.

Indian cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin also received similar news on WhatsApp. He tweeted to know if the report was real.

Ashwin later said that the news was false.

Reportedly, the fake news report said that Sanath died in a car accident. The report read, “A man was hit by a Honda Civic car died in the hospital and they had identified him as Sanath Jayasuriya.

"He was severely injured when taken to the hospital and while being treated for it passed away the next morning. It further went on to say that the same was confirmed by the Sri Lankan Embassy in Canada, in fact, also mentioned that the Embassy was aware of Jayasuriya’s visit to Toronto,” it added.

Meanwhile, Sanath had earlier on Twitter called the news hoax and said that he did not visit Canada as was suggested from the fake news.
