Online Fraud: Uganda National Dupes Hyderabad Man On OLX 

Hyderabad: In yet another case of an online fraud, one Ashish Awasare was duped to the tune of Rs 5 lakh by a Ugandan national and his associates. The victim was lured by way of an advertisement for a Mahindra XUV vehicle in the e-commerce portal OLX.com.

The accused Kidoodo alias Williams along with one Vijay and Harish, hatched a plan to commit an online fraud.

Going into the details, Ashish Awasare was asked by Williams to deposit Rs 5 lakh to his account as the SUV kept at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport needed approval. Falling into his trap, Ashish deposited the money in instalments. However, when Williams stopped responding to his calls, he realised that he was duped. Subsequently, he approached Rachakonda police station. Explaining the modus operandi, the officials said that Harish supplied new SIM cards to Williams while Vijay gave his personal account to Williams. While Williams and Harish have been arrested and brought here on transit warrant, efforts are on to nab Vijay.
