Gurudwara Launches ‘Oxygen Langar’ For COVID-19 Patients

 - Sakshi Post

As the situation worsens with the second wave of Covid19, there has been an increase in the number of cases, but along with that, there has also been an increase in people who are now coming forward to provide help. In a positive step forward, a Gurudwara in Ghaziabad came up with a unique idea.

The Indirapuram Gurudwara is helping Covid19 patients in their own unique way. They started something called ‘Oxygen Langar.’ This is not a door-to-door service but an immediate emergency service for critical patients.

Upon calling the helpline number, the Gurudwara will send an oxygen cylinder in a tank. If a patient is not getting a bed at the hospital, they can get relief from the oxygen supply from these cylinders. Until they get a bed, the patients can find some relief through this initiative. The hospitals are facing a shortage of beds amid this situation. As it might be difficult to immediately provide a bed, this initiative is a helpful one.

Many states are taking up different initiatives to ensure the free movement of oxygen cylinders. In Karnataka, the oxygen tankers were given free movement. These tankers will have a special sticker that will help the highway authorities in recognizing medical supply trucks. The tanks will be allowed to move freely as it is for medical emergencies. There has been a request placed for increasing the capacity of the tankers. Around 33 nitrogen tankers and 16 argon tankers received permission from the state to transport oxygen.

As per the directions of the Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, the state government with Defence aircraft airlifted eight oxygen tankers to the liquid oxygen plants in Odisha state.  Every state in the country is trying to help each other in fighting this situation.

Many people started donation camps. You have to give them a call and they will deliver the oxygen cylinder to any place you want. Thanks to the people at the Gurudwara for coming up with such an initiative.
