Devil Movie Review: Kalyan Ram Steals The Show

Nandamuri Kalyan Ram had two proper releases this year. Kalyan Ram was seen in a triple role in Amigos. Now, he is back as a British Agent in Devil, which was released in theatres today. The spy thriller movie has been released in theatres on a big scale. Devil is directed by Abhishek Nama and produced under Abhishek Pictures. The story is written by Srikanth Vaasa.

Plot: 

The story takes place in the 1940s. Kalyan Ram is Agent Devil, a secret agent working for the British. He was assigned to solve a murder mystery. He executes the mission successfully. How he solves the case without resorting to modern-day comforts is interesting. But there is a twist in the tale when it is revealed that Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose's right-hand man Trivarna is on the run. Nyshada (Samyuktha), a patriot, is also playing a crucial role in all this. 

Performances: 

Kalyan Ram submits himself to his character right from the first frame. He does a very good job, delivering his career-best performance. Samyuktha Menon is the sunshine of the rom-com scenes. She delivers yet another career-defining performance. Malavika Nair, Seetha, Srikanth Iyengar, Shatru, Achanta Mahesh, Satya and several others are seen.

Samyuktha Menon's character
The production values are rich
The natural twists.

Thumbs Down:

A few lags.
A few forced twists.
Not-so-effective action scenes. 

Verdict: Devil is impressive. Watch it with low expectations. This is a period drama with rich production values and good twists. Kalyan Ram's performance is a highlight.
