Tension Prevails At Nagarjuna Sagar Dam

At the Nagarjuna Sagar dam site, some tension prevailed today. Irrigation officials from Andhra Pradesh have since requested the police to put a fence within their jurisdiction. There are disputes with regard to water sharing between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Officials from AP were there today to release water from the dam. At that time, Telangana officials intervened and stopped them, leading to a huge altercation between the two sides.

The AP police have tried to provide security to the officials. The Telangana police then blocked the way, disallowing irrigation officers and the AP police from reaching the site.

The officials and police from AP urged the Telangana police to lift the blocks. Their appeals were ignored. The Telangana police reportedly broke the sensors on the side of the Andhra Pradesh fence. There was an altercation between the two sides. The Andhra Pradesh police provided security to the irrigation officials. They have also set up a fence around Sagar Dam within their jurisdiction.

The question many have asked is, why all this chaos has happened on the polling day. Komatireddy Venkat Reddy reacted on Sagar Dam, "The whole drama is created by KCR, as he understood that he would be losing the elections. The Telangana movement has been used by KCR for the elections."
