Higher Education Revolutionized in Andhra Pradesh through edX Agreement

Andhra Pradesh CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy presented a comprehensive plan for transforming the state's educational system in a historic speech at the CM Camp office. Jagan Mohan Reddy said that children should compete with the world, and only then will the state witness a great change.

"This is a historic moment in Andhra Pradesh's education sector," the chief minister declared. "'Right to education' is an old slogan, but 'quality education is every child's right' is our new slogan."

Partnership with edX:

The agreement between the AP Education Department and edX, a well-known education portal, marked a momentous occasion. The objective of this collaboration is to enhance the state's curriculum by offering more than 2000 courses, including those from esteemed universities such as MIT, Harvard, and LSE.

International Baccalaureate System Implementation:

The Chief Minister announced plans to implement the International Baccalaureate (IB) system to bring Andhra Pradesh's educational system into compliance with international standards. "Our competition is not within the country; we should compete with the world if we want our children to get good jobs and good salaries. That will only be possible with quality education," CM said. In order to prepare students for success on the global stage, they will be writing IB exams by 2035.

Digitization and Skill Enhancement:

CM Jagan Mohan Reddy outlined plans to incorporate content from educational platforms like Byjus, provide students with tablets, and digitize classrooms. The YSRCP supremo added, "If we want to achieve all this, our education sector has to meet international standards. What we are doing here is the first step in this regard. It will take some time until these seeds grow into a tree and bear fruits. We are taking steps to completely revitalize our education system from class one. Our government believes this investment in human resources is very important. We introduced ‘English medium’ in Government schools because if we want our people to become global citizens, they need to learn the language. If we don't do this, our future will not change."

Fee Reimbursement and Quality Assurance:

Efforts to ensure inclusivity and quality were emphasized, with the government providing full fee reimbursement to students and expediting recruitment in universities. The emphasis on NAAC accreditation and the launch of bilingual podcasts underscored the commitment to quality education across the board. "That's why we replaced old school systems with the 'Nadu-Nedu' program. We introduced 'Amma Odi' and 'Gorumudda' schemes to ensure our children attend school. We will implement many more initiatives for our future generations," CM Jagan Mohan Reddy promised.

Encouraging Innovation and Technology Integration:

With a focus on enhancing online capabilities and utilizing technologies like artificial intelligence, the Chief Minister urged universities to embrace innovation. A shift towards immersive and technology-driven learning experiences is indicated by notable initiatives like the creation of computer vision and metaverse learning zones.

CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy urged the people of Andhra Pradesh to embrace the transformative agenda, emphasizing that education is the key to unlocking opportunities and breaking the cycle of poverty. To ensure that every child receives a top-notch education and set the stage for Andhra Pradesh's future prosperity, he emphasized the significance of teamwork.

AP first in the world to have MoU: edX CEO

Speaking to media, edX CEO Anant Agarwal said he was happy that the vision of the Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to provide quality education to students is becoming a reality.
He said he was surprised with the vision of the Chief Minister on education and Andhra Pradesh is the first State in the world to sign MoU with the edX for making available high-end emerging courses to the students pursuing education in Government schools and colleges.
