VG Siddhartha Dead, Body Recovered From Netravati River

In a tragic end to the suspense surrounding the disappearance of CCD Founder and son-in-law VG Siddhartha, fishermen is believed to have recovered his body far from where he was seen on Monday evening. It may be recalled that a fisherman had told the police that he had seen a man jump into the river who he tried to save but had to abandon his search because of low visibility and gushing waters.

VG Siddhartha was last seen at a bridge over Netravati river in Mangalore. The body was fished out from the waters at 6.50 am this morning ending the frantic search operations.

Dakshina Kannada DC Sasikanth Senthil confirmed that a body had been found which appears to be that of the missing business tycoon VG Siddhartha.

The cops moved the mortal remains of VG Siddhartha to a nearby hospital. The family has to confirm the identity before they make an official announcement.

It may be recalled that an intense search operation was launched with the Navy, NDRF and the Coast Guard pressed into service to find VG Siddhartha who had gone missing.

The dog squad had caught a whiff of Siddhartha on the bridge, leading the police to suspect that the businessman had committed suicide.

VG Siddhartha was on his way to Sakleshpur in Hassan when he had asked his driver to go to Mangalore instead.

In a statement issued by his driver Basavaraj Patel, VG Siddhartha had asked the driver to wait far from the bridge as he wanted to take a walk. However, he soon disappeared thereafter.

Founder of India's first coffee chain, VG Siddhartha was also the son-in-law of former Karnataka Chief Minister SM Krishna.

Within minutes after the news of his disappearance broke, a letter reportedly penned by VG Siddhartha addressed to his family and the CCD board surfaced.

In his letter, VG Siddhartha mentioned that he had failed as an entrepreneur and that he had no intention of cheating anybody.
