First Private Train To Compensate Passengers For Delay

Tejas Express To Compensate Passengers For Delay - Sakshi Post

Lucknow: Passengers who travelled on Tejas Express on Saturday will be paid a compensation of 250 rupees each as the train delayed for about two hours in both the directions i.e., from Lucknow and New Delhi.

"We have sent a link to all the passengers on their mobile phone clicking on which they can claim compensation. Those who do so will get the paid", Chief Regional Manager (CRM), Indian Railway Catering & Tourism Corporation Limited (IRCTC), Lucknow, Ashwini Srivastava said to a daily.

"The compensation is given when the train reaches its destination behind schedule. If the train could make up the loss of time despite departing behind schedule from the originating station passengers will not be compensated", he added.

According to reports, about 451 passengers boarded from Lucknow and 500 passengers took the train from New Delhi.

On Saturday, Tejas started at 8.55 am from Lucknow instead of its original departure time which is at 6.10 am and reached New Delhi at around 3.40 pm instead of 12.25 pm. It departed from New Delhi at around 5.30 pm instead of 3.35 pm. There was apparently a delay of two hours.

The main cause of the delay was due to delayed maintenance. The primary maintenance is mandatory for any train before departing on its routine journey.

To make up for the delay, passengers were served an extra tea, lunch and the refreshment given to them had 'sorry for the delay' printed on the packets.
