Newly-Wed Bride Elopes With Priest In MP     

In an incident that seems to have come right out of a Bollywood movie script, a women has fled her house with the priest who performed her marriage with another man her just two weeks prior. This happened in Tori Bagrod, Sironj city of Madhya Pradesh.

The priest Vinod Maharaj was a local priest from Asath village. To the shock of the groom and his family, his newly wedded bride was found missing on May 23. This happened to be the day that Vinod was supposed to conduct another wedding in the village but was nowhere to be found. Upon enquiry it was learned that Shanthi (name changed) had married a man from the village on May seventh at a ceremony performed by Vinod. The people of the village believed of the two to have had an illicit affair for over two years. The priest is married and has two children as well. Is other wife is said to have known of the affair.

The family of vinod have also fled the area. Shanthi is said to have fled with jewellery and Rs 30,000 in cash. A missing persons case has ben filed with the police.
