Kishan Reddy Finds Place In Union Cabinet

G Kishen Reddy - Sakshi Post

Hyderabad/New Delhi: BJP senior leader and Secunderabad MP G Kishan Reddy is confirmed to have found a place in the Narendra Modi’s government. The Prime Minister’s Office called Reddy to this effect and instructed him to be present at Modi’s swearing-in in Delhi.

Reddy who had already flown to Delhi with his family took to Twitter to express his gratitude to Prime Minister-designate Modi and the voters of Secunderabad. “With blessing of people of Secunderabad and Hon PM Narendra Modi I will be taking oath as Union Minister today at 7 PM. I seek your continued support,” he tweeted.

Reddy’s induction into the Union Cabinet is to balance the caste and regional equation. Earlier, Bandaru Dattatreya who won as Secunderabad MP went onto become minister in Modi’s first term. Dattatreya left the same seat for Kishan Reddy who won handsomely against TRS and Congress candidates. The portfolio that Reddy is expected to secure is yet to be known.

He has been a three-time MLA from Amberpet constituency in 2004, 2009, 2014 elections and has also served as the party’s president for the combined state of Andhra Pradesh.

The Telangana unit of BJP sprang a surprise in Lok Sabha polls winning four seats and inflicting an embarrassing defeat on K Kavitha in Nizamabad parliamentary segment among others. Going by political scenario in the State, BJP sees a potential in Telangana, and Kishan Reddy’s induction into Union Cabinet can be seen as its effort to grow its presence in the State.
