MIM To Contest Kishanganj Lok Sabha Seat In Bihar - Sakshi Post

Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) President Asaduddin Owaisi on Saturday addressed a meeting in Hyderabad to mark the 61st anniversary of the MIM's revival.

On the occasion, he made an announcement that MIM will contest the Kishanganj Lok Sabha seat in Bihar with the state unit president Akhtarul Iman as the party candidate.

Also, MIM is likely to field candidates in one parliamentary constituency each in Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh.

Following talks with the Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) headed by Prakash Ambedkar, Owaisi hinted at MIM contesting Aurangabad Lok Sabha seat in Maharashtra.

Claiming that their public meetings were garnering a good response, he expressed confidence in retaining his Hyderabad seat with a record majority.

The three-time Hyderabad MP also said that the party leaders in Uttar Pradesh were keen in contesting one Lok Sabha seat in the state.

Keeping in view of the upcoming Assembly elections along with Lok Sabha polls in Andhra Pradesh, the MIM announced support to the YSR Congress party.

Stating that he has a debt to repay to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party N Chandrababu Naidu, who campaigned in the Telangana Assembly elections last year, Owaisi said that he will go to AP and campaign for YSRCP.

In Telangana, MIM would back the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) in 16 Lok Sabha constituencies.

He further said that if TRS and YSR Congress together bag 35 seats in AP and Telangana, then MIM along with the two parties would be a strong front at the Centre to resolve the pending issues of both the states.

In Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, the party is yet to make a decision.

Recalling the sacrifices made by his grandfather Abdul Wahed Owaisi who revived the party in 1958 for the rights of minorities, the MIM Chief said that several leaders including his father Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi put in vigorous efforts to provide a political platform to raise the voice for the rights of the oppressed.

Stating that MIM had been working to fight for the constitutional rights of Muslims, Dalits and all oppressed people regardless of their religion and caste for the last 61 years, Owaisi urged the party cadres to be prepared for the elections and renew their commitment to MIM.
