Kotaiah committee on farm loan waiver submits report

Kotaiah committee, which was entrusted with the duty of studying and preparing a report on crop loan waiver, has submitted its report to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N.Chandrababu Naidu on Monday.

The committee had said that they were yet to get complete details on the crop loans taken from different banks. Due to this, the committee has prepared its report with the whatever information available to it.

Further, the aggregate crop loan amount shown by the committee is much less than the existing figures.

Kotaiah committee has put the total loan amount at Rs.72,000 crores as against Rs.1.02 lakh crores shown in the 184th SLBC meeting held recently. Of these, the farm loans are Rs.62,000 crores, Dwcra and weavers' loans are or the order of Rs 12,000 crores. The gold loans amount to Rs.34,000 crores and the crop loan amount is Rs.26,000.
