Kalpana Chawla Birth Anniversary: Twitterati Pays Tribute
Kalpana Chawla's birth anniversary today. The American astronaut was the first woman of Indian origin in space. Born in Karnal in Punjab (now in Haryana, Kalpana got her Aeronautical engineering degree from the Punjab Engineering college and later earned her masters in Aerospace engineering from University of Tezas at Arlington. She also earned her PhD in the same subject from the University of Colorado Boulder. She had a high flying career till she died in February 2003 in the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster. She was along six other crew members.
