Jilted youth slits girl’s throat

Vizianagaram: A youth allegedly slit the throat of an 18 years old girl after she rejected his marriage proposal at Gajulerega here this afternoon. The girl is being treated at the Government hospital while the accused K Vikram (21) is absconding.

Two-Town Circle Inspector G Durga Prasad said Vikram was related to the victim and was in love with her. Fifteen days ago he and his parents approached the girl’s family and proposed marriage, but the latter rejected it. Today he attacked the girl when she was alone at home and slit her throat, the police officer said.

She was rushed to the government hospital and her condition was stated to be stable. The accused was absconding. Police have registered a case under section 307 (attempt to murder) and other relevant sections of the IPC and launched a manhunt for Vikram.
