I-T Raids On Gali Janardhran Reddy Offices 

Hyderabad: Hardly a week after celebrating the grandiose wedding ceremony of his daughter, mining baron and former Karnataka minister Gali Janardhan Reddy is in for a rude shock on Monday with the Income Tax officials raiding his offices and seizing crucial documents.

The I-T sleuths swooped on Reddy's offices in Bellary in the wake of his blatant show of wealth at his daughter Brahmani's marriage with Hyderabad-based industrialist Rajiv Reddy on November 16. It has been rumored that the glittering wedding ceremony at the sprawling Palace Grounds in Bengaluru last Wednesday cost him anywhere between Rs500-550 crore.

The media criticised the extravagance at a time when many are struggling to find the cash to buy food following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decision to make 500 and 1,000 rupee notes no longer legal tender in an effort aimed at tackling tax evaders and black money.

The I-T raids were reportedly aimed at gathering information on the spending of the wedding.

I-T department also conducted raids on service providers engaged for wedding of Janardhan Reddy's daughter in Bangalore and Hyderabad.
